The Journey
Each year a group of people travel to the beautiful southwestern part of this amazing country to participate in a healing journey that is very ancient to the Native people there. The Journey of The Waters is a 10 day, 400 mile sojourn through some of the most brilliant country one can ever see, visiting sacred waters, leaving behind what no longer serves you and eventually being initiated into Changing Woman. For more information, please see links for Moonfire Meeting House and OhShinnah Fast Wolf. I have been on the Journey of the Waters twice for my own healing and in 2006 I was blessed with the invitation to begin training as a facilitator of this awesome experience.
The Journey, as I affectionately refer to it, has had a great impact on my life. It is a challenge for the western mind to allow oneself to be healed by the land and the water. And yet that is exactly what is happening. To be aware of the connection that we have to the Earth and all the elements is something that has sadly become foreign to us. This journey reawakens that connection. On the first journey I felt an opening in the heart area. Each time we entered the water and we were prepared, the tug from the heart grew smaller. The "stuff" that needed to be let go of lessened each time. I changed and my eyes were a window to that change. In my reflection, after seeing many others in my eyes, I eventually began to see myself. Who I really am!
